The Bottle
Rockets have cut several good albums and one great one. Their second record, The
Brooklyn Side, produced by ex-Del Lord Eric Amble, is a peach; if you're a
fan of their genre - roots rock, roughly - you'll like 'em all. Brooklyn has
better songs and a loose, live, loud feel that transforms the Rockets from bar
band into rock titans. "I'll Be Coming Around," "Thousand Dollar
Car," "Idiot's Revenge" and others bristle with energy, anger,
and humor and make it the Rockets' best. And, wouldn't you
know it, it's also the one you can't get anymore (in fact, their whole catalog
is getting scarce). The self-titled debut on East Side Digital is a close second,
though,
and features support from Uncle Tupelo. Their latest on Austin-based Doolittle
Records, Brand
New Year, finds the boys in fine form, too.
