The BoDeans arrived
on the scene with great aplomb in the mid-80's, their self-titled
debut (produced by T-Bone Burnett) leading the charge. Containing such Everlys-meet-the-Ramones
tracks as "Runaway" and "Angels," it
was a thrilling album. The band didn't immediately live up to that promise, though,
quickly resorting to trendy, post-U2 AOR. To their credit, they didn't succumb
to their sophomore slump, and later albums like Go Slow Down are quite
good. If you can find it, the Australian Thick As Thieves: Best Of The BoDeans is
a good retrospective.
