If
the Four Seasons bug you, stay the hell away from Lou
Christie. His melodramatic songs and shrieking
falsetto are at least a step further away from hardcore
rock 'n' roll than Frankie Valli and his boys. Lou
Christie's hits (many self-penned) were excellent radio
fodder in the 60's, but, to modern ears, they're an
acquired taste. "The Gypsy Cried," "Lightnin'
Strikes," "Two Faces Have I," "Rhapsody
In The Rain," and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine"
are all on Rhino's Enlightnin'ment: The Best Of
Lou Christie, and more than that is more than
I can take. Proceed at your own risk.
