Cherry's two albums for Virgin had much to do with bringing the two sensibilities
together. Raw Like Sushi was musically speaking, very R&B, but Cherry's
stance was a very postmodern one. The follow-up, Homebrew, was even more
out there, including guests as disparate as Guru and Michael Stipe. The albums are
good, but Cherry is notable as a ground breaker as much as an artist. She released
another album, Man, in 1998.
