Big Maybelle was an old school blues shouter with an irrepressible spirit. She is best known for her original rendition of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On," but she cut a number of other great songs. Sony has compiled her complete output for the pioneering Okeh label on The Complete Okeh Sessions 1952-55. Her band (including Quincy Jones and Mickey Baker) provides a big sound for this big woman with a big voice.
